Showing a strong performance in the first half of 2018, a traffic report issued by Dubai Airports reported that Dubai World Central (DWC) recorded a 7.1% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes that equated to 475,190 tonnes of cargo.
By the second quarter of the year, the airport processed 245,359 tonnes in cargo volumes marking a 5.4% increase over the 232,691 tonnes recorded in the same period last year.
In terms of passenger traffic, DWC reported 517,813 passengers travelled to the airport in the first half of 2018, a decrease of 6.7% compared to the 554,993 passengers recorded in the first half of 2017.
Additionally, flight movements during the first half reached 16,069, a decrease of 12.5% as reported during the same period last year. Dubai Airports’ report also noted that the average passenger per flight movement in the first half of 2018 was 163. Last year, the figure stood at 121 at the same point.
A total of 8 passenger carriers were active during the period reviewed by the report. An average of 95 flights per week were recorded that reached 14 global destinations. Dubai Airports’ also recorded the presence of 26 scheduled cargo operators flying to 70 destinations across the globe.
