Gorillaz, Damon Albarn’s virtual band are coming to Dubai this October.
The band will headline the Fiesta De Los Muertes Halloween festival on Friday October 27 at the Autism Rocks Arena, in what will be their first ever UAE performance.
Gorillaz don’t tour that often, but have a few memorable live performances under their belt, including the headline slot on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in 2010, and the Brit Awards in 2006 – both of which only enhanced public demand for them to get out more.
The band consists of four animated, fictitious characters created by Blur’s Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs.
Their fictional world is explored through their music videos, and the band’s originality saw it enter the Guinness Book of Records for most successful virtual band ever. The band also has a Grammy and Brit award to its name, as well as a plethora of nominations and number one hits across the world.
With a surprisingly long list of massive tracks, the Dubai show will form part of the 2017 world tour for the band’s newest album, Humanz – first record in six years.
Gorillaz will be joined by The Mariachis, the official band of the Doritos TV commercials which struck fame and spent 2016 touring with Rod Stewart to a total audience of over a million people.
Massari is the final act to be announced at this early stage, the Lebanese-Canadian R&B singer completing the preliminary line-up.
