Data performance in Bahrain bounces back in Q2

TRA Bahrain's Broadband Quality of Service Report for the first half of 2017 has noted a rise of LTE mobile data performance across the sector from Q1 to Q2 of 2017. Average performance reached 23.4 Mbps in Q2, after having fallen to 16.6 Mbps in Q1.

Sh. Ahmed Bin Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, TRA’s manager of ICT said: “We noticed an overall performance drop of nearly 26% between Quarter four of 2016 and the first quarter of this year and are glad to see that data performance has bounced back in the second quarter. This report is published regularly to keep consumers informed of the most current performance conditions in their areas. Consumers can also expect that we are in the process of publishing an updated regulation on the quality of service to ensure users enjoy the best service possible.”

Results average for HTTP (On-Net) download speed remained unchanged from Q1 at 6.5 Mbps. Average HTTP(Off-Net) download speed was 5.13 Mbps for Q2, compared to 5.23 Mbps in Q1. 

Average HTTP(On-Net) download speed for the high-speed residential bundles stand at : 13.07 Mbps for 8 Mbps package , 22.33 Mbps for 25 Mbps package and the 88.17 Mbps for 100Mbps package. In Q1, these numbers stood at 7.66 Mbps, 22.28 Mbps and  94.17 Mbps respectively. 

TRA has implemented a monitoring solution utilising several probes across the Kingdom’s regions that are deployed to simulate and collect samples of the customer experience.
