Football enthusiasts can watch the AGL Cup Final on March 29 live in VR.

Etisalat has teamed up with Pro League Committee (PLC) to launch ‘Etisalat VR’, a virtual reality app that will broadcast the football match in virtual reality.

Mediapro, which specialises in football broadcasting around the world and in virtual reality events, designed and develop the VR app, available on both iOS and Android devices.

Apps for iOS and Android have been developed using Google Cardboard SDK, while there is one Gear VR version using the Oculus-Facebook platform. Users are also able to plug in their headphones or wireless headphones to listen to the game while in VR mode. Customers can watch the games on Etisalat’s 4G network or stream the match in HD on eLife WiFi connection.

Humaid Sahoo, CEO of E-Vision the broadcasting arm of Etisalat, said: “We are delighted to partner with the Pro League Committee to unveil the region’s first virtual reality app to broadcast live football matches, enabling our consumers to experience the thrill of the games from the comfort of their homes. Today’s launch showcases Etisalat’s commitment in taking the lead to showcase the most innovative solutions and help drive our digital transformation.
