Zain Bahrain has announced that it has renewed its partnership with StartUp Bahrain, in a bid to fast track the development of Bahrain’s telecoms and fin-tech start-up ecosystem.
Bahrain is positioning itself as a natural home for small and medium sized start-ups in the region, thanks to its nimble and agile regulatory framework.
“Businesses like Zain Bahrain are the backbone of Bahrain’s supportive ICT infrastructure that is fuelling innovation in the start-up ecosystem – an established leader in its industry that makes it a point of pride to both teach and learn from the innovative challengers in its field. This renewed partnership is a win for the whole ecosystem and especially for all the start-ups, homegrown or international, that call Bahrain home,” said Pakiza Abdulrahman, head of start-ups, Bahrain Economic Development board.
Zain Bahrain has signed a number of important deals with start-ups in the country over the past twelve months, including the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Flat6Labs Bahrain, a regional start-up accelerator programme, that invests in bright and passionate founders with ambitious ideas. The MoU will see Zain Bahrain and Flat6Labs collaborate on such initiatives as mentorship programmes and hosting joint events.
“The start-up sector plays an important role in the Kingdom’s economy. Today’s strategic partnership announcement comes in line with Zain Bahrain’s continuous efforts to support start-ups in Bahrain and position Zain as the preferred business partner of choice, which aims to bring growth and innovation in the start-up and small and medium sized enterprise sectors. Zain Bahrain has always been committed towards empowering local talents and empowering entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into real business ventures,” said Zain Bahrain’s director of communications and investor relation, Abdulla Khaled al Khalifa.
