UAE’s Federal National Council defines security for sports facilities, events

The UAE’s Federal National Council (FNC) has approved a draft law on the security law of sports facilities and events during a session in the presence of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

According to WAM, the new law defines the security of sports facilities and events as the protection of the safety and security of any sports activities and their venues and facilities, which includes safeguarding fans, buildings and equipment against any internal or external threats.

The new law stipulates that organisers of any sports event must apply for permissions from the relevant authorities of the emirate, and the Ministry of Interior in case the event is organised in more than one Emirate.

The new law consists of 27 articles regulates the security aspects of sports events and facilities and reflects the government's interest in protecting safety and security in the country.
