The UAE's Ministry of Infrastructure Development confirmed that Sharjah's Mleiha Road Development Project will be completed in Q1 2018.

Being developed as part of the initiatives of UAE President, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the development is currently 55% complete.

Worth $47.3m (AED174m), the 42km road will extend from the Al Badi intersection to Sheikh Khalifa Road in Fujairah, WAM reported.

Hassan Jumaa Al Mansouri, under-secretary at the infrastructure authority, said "a creative solution" was required to ensure project implementation without impacting the heavy traffic flow noted in both areas it links.

Collaboration between project authorities, including the infrastructure ministry as the federal government's executive arm, have assisted the project's smooth development over the last two years, Al Mansouri said.
