Abu Dhabi based developer Aldar is developing Reem Central Park which is scheduled to open to the public in 2018.

Construction on the park is underway with  streetscaping complete and the coastalscape nearing completion. Hard and soft landscaping and infrastructure is expected to commence in July.

The park will feature a 2,000 worshipper mosque with a reflective pool, F&B outlets, a retail centre, a skate park, play areas, and interactive water features.

The park will also have a natural waterfront, including a 4km promenade that will feature natural reserves and plant life.

The municipality of Abu Dhabi announced last year that it will build $35m (AED127m) worth of parks and playgrounds in the emirate as population and development continues to grow.

The projects will reportedly provide recreational facilities and parks under the development plan 2030 for Abu Dhabi and its suburbs.

Aldar has a number of projects currently in the pipeline, with more than 60% of plots in the developer’s master planned Reem Island community in various stages of design and construction.

HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chief executive officer, Aldar Properties PJSC, said: “Our master-planned community on Reem Island is developing at a rapid pace, spurred on by modern lifestyle and community focused amenities such as the canal, Reem Central Park, Vida Hotel and Residences, exciting event spaces, and of course our mid-market residential projects Meera and The Bridges.”
