The UAE’s Dodsal Group has been selected to work on a $1.1bn (AED40.4bn) energy project in Algeria.

Sonatrach, Algeria’s largest state energy producer, awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Dodsal Group to develop a gas-oil separation and compression centre on the periphery of Hassi Messaoud.

Under the terms of the deal, the Dubai-based conglomerate will conduct EPC and commissioning activities for the plant.

Construction of the facility, which will have a production capacity of 66,000 barrels per day (bpd), is scheduled to complete in 2020.

Commenting on the deal, Dr Rajen A Kilachand, chairman and president of Dodsal Group, said: “This order further strengthens our long-term relationship with Sonatrach, and also reinforces our presence in Algeria, which is a strategic market for Dodsal.

“We are proud to continue our association with Sonatrach, and are looking forward to working closely with them to successfully deliver this project,” he added.

Dosal Group’s previous Algerian developments include the Skikda LNG Project. The Hassi Messaoud facility is the third major EPC contract that Sonatrach has awarded to the company.

Headquartered in Dubai, Dodsal Group conducts EPC, trading, distribution, exploration, and production activities across the Middle East, North Africa, East Africa, and India.
