Advanced Construction Technology Services has secured a series of contracts relating to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The firm will conduct geotechnical and geophysical works, and construction materials testing, on five of the venues that will be used for the event, including Al Wakrah Stadium.
The construction materials and geotechnical engineering company will also conduct similar activities for three energy centres that are being developed for the football competition.
Eng Khaled Awad, chairman of ACTS and vice-president of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), said: “These contracts deal with some of the region’s highest-profile infrastructure projects.
“The selection of ACTS for the [2022 FIFA World Cup] stadiums highlights our steadfast commitment to quality improvement. Carrying the works to completion highlights our capability, and proves once again that ACTS is a reliable partner when it comes to investigations and studies [that ensure] quality control in construction.”
ACTS, which has already completed geophysical surveys on Al Wakrah Stadium, has been appointed to perform additional geotechnical and geophysical tasks, in addition to construction materials testing, for the same venue.
The 40,000-seater facility is located approximately 15km south of Doha, and will host the World Cup’s quarter-final fixtures.
ACTS stated that it has also been enlisted to perform works on four other under-construction World Cup stadiums in Qatar, although it did not disclose details of the facilities.
In addition to its World Cup projects, ACTS has been enlisted to perform quality control works for a selection of high-profile GCC projects, including Doha Metro in Qatar, and Riyadh Metro, King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia.
