Nakheel has announced several new appointments to its senior management as well as a newly-created department as part of its new growth strategy.
The organizational changes include the appointment of Fawzi Al Shehhi as managing director, Nakheel Community Planning and Management, a new department that combines the company’s existing Community Management and Development Control and Urban Planning functions.
Joining Nakheel in 2011, Shehhi had previously held the position of director development control and urban planning.
The new department is set to enhanced services and facilities for customers, investors and stakeholders, including the 270,000 people who live in Nakheel communities across Dubai.
Omar Khoory is also appointed managing director of Nakheel Malls, leading the strategy, operations, leasing and planning for the company’s existing and upcoming retail developments.
Omar joined Nakheel in 2007, holding various retail roles including director of Nakheel Malls, during which time he oversaw the delivery of Dragon Mart 2, the first phase expansion at Ibn Battuta Mall and Golden Mile Galleria on Palm Jumeirah.
Ali Rashid Lootah, Nakheel chairman, said: “These changes reflect our continued growth and diversification, and underlines our strategy to appoint young, talented UAE nationals – who continue to prove their commitment, drive and ability to deliver – into senior positions in which they can take a greater responsibility within our leadership team.”
