Several FM teams are busy preparing the Yas Marina F1 track ahead of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from 23 - 26, November.

An army of cleaners, painters, gardeners and technical experts have descended on Yas Marina Circuit, an official statement has claimed.

Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit, said: “Leading to the F1 race weekend, a huge amount of work goes into preparation to make sure the circuit looks perfect and the fans in the grandstands and those watching on TV around the world enjoy the best F1 experience."

To put things in perspective, Yas Marina has revealed a few official statistics.

As much as 4,500 litres of ‘Yas blue’ paint, 720 litres of ivory, 1,440 litres of red and 1,440 litres of white paint will be applied by teams of painters.

The team tasked with painting the track’s white edging will have to cover a total of 26 kilometers. These are painted four times, which requires 450 litres of white paint.

Cleaners are also clearing away months of sand and dust from the circuit’s grandstands, as they are accompanied by high-pressure hoses, while the 75 acres of landscaped areas will see 715 palm trees and 150,000 flowers planted before the race.

It’s not just the circuit that is cleaned and polished before the F1 weekend begins.

All the hotels on the Yas Island strip, including the ‘glowing facade’ of the Yas Viceroy, are being worked on.

Street cleaners are also busy at work ensuring all facilities are in top notch order before the teams, crews and fans arrive.

As many as 60,000 fans are expected, the organisers have said.
