UAE-based Alec has been appointed lead contractor for the One Za’abeel, the company announced on Wednesday.
The contract scope includes site excavation, preparatory works, and the construction of a seven-floor basement, according to the company.
Shoring and piling were recently completed and all works are currently underway.
The 480,000m2 two-tower, high-rise mixed-use development incorporates luxury residences, a luxury and ultra-luxury hotel, serviced apartments, office spaces, a retail podium, and a panoramic sky concourse.
The project, due to be completed in Q4 2020, will also feature the world’s largest cantilever, The Linx, floating at 100 metres above ground and offering fine restaurants and lounges.
Issam Galadari, director and chief executive of Ithra Dubai, said: “With the recent appointment of ALEC Engineering & Contracting LLC as the main contractor, the project has now entered an exciting phase of construction where One Za’abeel and its panoramic 210-metre sky concourse 'The Linx' will in due course re-shape the ever-exciting Dubai skyline.”
