Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has opened a new entrance to Khalifa City, it has been revealed.

The new entrance, which cost $3m (AED11m) to build and is 800m long, runs from the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Highway at Al Raha Beach to Khalifa City.

It goes through a 45-kilometre south-eastern coastal road, passing by the sites of several infrastructure projects in Khalifa City.

Construction of the project commenced in June 2015 and completed this month.

According to UAE state news agency, WAM, the project is part of an infrastructure project on the Southeast Basin of 45 in Khalifa City. The project includes the construction of a 22KV power conversion station.

Citing a statement from ADM, WAM noted that the new entrance would serve the Al Raha Gardens and Eastern Basin areas of Khalifa City to "help ease the pressure on two preceding traffic entrances on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road".

The entrance is the second to serve the road from Abu Dhabi Airport to Khalifa City.
