GHD has appointed John Hensman as its market development director for Europe and the Middle East.

In his new role, Hensman will take regional responsibility for marketing, business growth, customer relationships, and strategic business planning at the engineering, architecture, environmental, and construction services company.

Hensman has more than 25 years’ experience working for both public and private sector organisations. Prior to joining GHD, he worked for UK-based civil engineering contractor, Barhale Construction.

A civil engineer by trade, Hensman is the current vice chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) water expert panel.

Mark Ingram, GHD’s general manager for Europe and the Middle East, said: “John will help us build brand awareness, and expand and diversify our services across the region.

“By continuing to strengthen connections between our UK and Middle East teams, we are making a diverse range of skills and experience available to our clients, as well as the capabilities of 8,500 people globally.”

Commenting on his latest appointment, Hensman said: “I am passionate about providing true client service: understanding what our customers need from us, working with them to find the best solutions, delivering what we promised, and getting it right the first time.”

Founded in 1928 in Australia, GHD employs approximately 500 people across Europe and the Middle East.

Appointed by the Al Jalila Foundation, the company is currently working as the lead consultant for the UAE’s first standalone medical research centre.
