Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has been granted a licence to own, operate, and manage service stations in Saudi Arabia by the country’s Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA).

The awarding of the licence was revealed during a signing ceremony held in Riyadh yesterday, 22 April.

In attendance at the event were MOMRA under-secretary Abdul Qader bin Othman Amir and ADNOC Distribution’s Abdulla Al Mentheri, UAE state news agency, WAM, reported.

Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi, ADNOC Distribution’s CEO, said: "We extend our thanks to MOMRA for issuing our licence to operate in Saudi Arabia.

“Drawing on our 45-year history of success in the UAE, I am confident that we will bring more choice and service to customers in the Kingdom, while always being mindful of our 100% commitment to safety."

The Abu Dhabi-headquartered announced in January this year that its expansion plans for 2018 included the opening of at least 13 service stations, a number of which will be located in the previously untapped markets of Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
