Dubai Municipality has announced plans to develop a community centre in Al Barsha, in collaboration with the Community Development Authority (CDA).
According to Dubai Municipality, the Al Barsha Community Centre project, valued at $16.3m (AED60m), will be built in the Al Barsha 2 area, on a plot of land spanning 5,500m2.
The project, which is expected to be ready for handover in mid-2019, will have a built-up area of 14,500m2, the municipality revealed in a statement.
Once completed, the centre will consist of a basement, a ground floor, and two upper floors.
The basement parking will be able to accommodate 108 cars, while the ground floor will contain a reception counter, a multi-purpose hall that can be divided into five small halls, a 100-seat theatre, a gallery, men's and ladies' prayer rooms, and a separate service entrance.
Meanwhile, the first floor will feature areas for recreational activities like painting, clay modelling and handcrafts, as well as spaces that can be used for cooking and music lessons, and a library with a section where children can learn to draw, read, and use the computer.
The second-floor will accommodate a sports area with related service facilities, swimming pools, gyms, a lounge for electronic games, a cafeteria, and administrative offices for the staff.
