A design and build contract for roads, bridges, sewers, and waterways in Kuwait City has been awarded by a senior government minister.
Kuwait's Minister of Public Work and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Hussam Al-Roumi, signed a $48.5m (KWD14.7m) contract for the design, construction, and maintenance of a new civic infrastructure network.
The two-year project covers work for the Fifth Ring Road, Al-Ghazali Road, and Muhammad bin Qasim Street. Scope includes building an overpass for the Al-Ghazali Road intersection for the Fifth Ring Road.
A route that connects the Airport Road 55 to the Fifth Ring Road will be expanded as part of the government's plans to improve the built infrastructure. An upper bride to connect an internal road to the Fifth Ring Road will also be built as part of the planned work.
State-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), which initially covered the story, did not disclose when design or construction work will start or finish. The name of the contractor was also not made public by KUNA.
