Twenty-three people suffered injuries and suffocation after a fire broke out at a building in Al-Mahboula, located around 36km south of Kuwait City.
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate said the fire started at a laundry shop in Al-Mahboula, which Kuwait’s state-held news agency, Kuna, said is a seaside district.
The blaze spread to a residential facility in the annex, leaving more than 100 occupants of the building stranded. Firemen were rushed to the scene for rescue operations, particularly for occupants stuck in the upper floors of the building.
Kuna stated in its 20 February report that the fire had spread to a nearby store as well.
“Amid smoke billowing into the skies, the firemen whisked the injured to ambulances,” Kuna’s report added.
