Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) met with Sheila Hayter, president-elect of ASHRAE and Jeff Littleton, executive vice president of ASHRAE to discuss the latest developments in the district cooling sector and various means for enhancing cooperation.
The meeting was at the venue of 2019 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Winter Conference and AHR Expo, held at the Georgia International Convention Center in Georgia, USA, from 12 to 16 January, 2019.
Bin Shafar said: “It’s our pleasure to meet the representatives of ASHRAE on the sidelines of its annual conference, to exchange views on the challenges and difficulties facing in the district cooling sector, and to find practical and advanced solutions for energy efficiency. The conference also aims to review the most innovative energy-saving technologies and solutions that support sustainability by creating the required balance between economic development and the preservation of the environment. ASHRAE has a comprehensive overview of the cooling and heating sectors around the world, as it is an international and technical association under which individuals and international organisations take interest in heating, cooling and air-conditioning.”
Bin Shafar commended Empower’s close relationship with ASHRAE, which is the global sustainability partner of several district cooling companies. Sustainability is the cornerstone of Empower's work through its strategies and projects.
Empower has recently announced its support to ASHRAE in issuing the District Cooling Guide for Building Owners, as well as the updated edition of the District Cooling Guide, since both are an excellent reference for refrigeration professionals and researchers from around the world.
