Arabian Construction Company (ACC) has worked on some of the GCC’s most iconic building projects. Heading up the group – which boasts a portfolio including super-high-rise luxury developments, five-star hotels, and hospitals – is chairman, Ghassan Merehbi.

Founded in Lebanon in 1967, ACC has more than 50 years of experience, and operations in seven countries. The firm has 11 offices in the Middle East and India, and a 30,000-strong workforce. According to the company’s website, ACC achieves an annual turnover of more than $1bn.

ACC is currently working on Emaar Properties’ Address Sky View development, according to intelligence platform ProTenders. The project is located in the Downtown Dubai neighbourhood.

With a built-up area of 290,000m², and reaching 259m in height, the project consists of a hotel, residence, and serviced apartment twin-tower complex. The towers will be linked by a three-level Sky Bridge at floor 51.

The building giant also has a hand in building the Jabal Omar Development, an urban re-generation scheme and integrated development in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Located over the Jabal Omar mountain, to the west of the Grand Haram, the development covers an area of 230,000m² and includes two building platforms, four hotel towers, a central commercial market, and other related facilities.

Also according to ProTenders’ data, ACC is currently engaged on the construction of the Mashreq Bank headquarters in Dubai. This 32-storey office tower promises to be a prominent addition to the city’s skyline and will have a built-up area of 71,000m².

According to details on ACC’s website, the bank HQ’s tower, with its cantilevered form, has an L-shaped floor plate that opens to the north, with offices on both sides. The glass façades of the building capture daylight and limit solar gain through a series of horizontal and vertical shading devices that provide dynamic perspectives of the building when it is viewed from different angles.
