Featuring at #8 in Construction Week’s 2019 Power 100 is Patrick McKinney, who has been area director for the Middle East and Gulf States at main contractor Bam International for the past nine years – building a reputation as a leader in the regional construction industry, especially within the contractor’s core market of civil and marine and engineering projects.
Over the past 12 months, the group, in its capacity as main contractor, completed Phase One and Two of the Saqr Port Extension in the UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah.
Bam International also completed Packages 1 and 2 of the CT4 Connection project in the Jebel Ali Free Zone during this period.
The purpose of the project was to provide a road connection between the newly constructed Container Terminal 4 – also built by Bam – and the development’s existing road network.
Bam International employs 160 qualified engineers at present, with 1,651 individuals making up its team of unskilled labourers this year.
Commenting on Bam’s training initiatives for 2019, McKinney said that the company will focus on 4D sequencing education, which marks Bam’s effort to move into the next stage of building information modelling (Bim) implementation by investing in training to enable the linking of the project programmes to Bim models, which may be viewed using augmented reality technology.
