A subsidiary of Belgium’s Besix Group, Six Construct has been led by managing director Pierre Sironval – a 24-year veteran of the company.
The multi-services company operates in the construction of commercial and residential buildings, sport and leisure facilities, infrastructure and marine-related project.
Under Sonoval’s leadership, the group has been selected to work on a number of high profile projects across the GCC. In January it won a contract to build the first super-tall tower in Dubai Multi Commodities Centre’s Uptown Dubai district (DMCC) next to Jumeirah Lake Towers.
As part of its contract, Besix will build the 78-storey Uptown Tower, which will provide views of Dubai’s waterfront and skyline.
Additionally, Besix is also among the contractors that is busy at Expo 2020 Dubau’s 4.38km2 site, where it is building various pavilions for the next World Expo’s participants. Besix’s work on the French pavilion commenced in May 2019. Project completion is due in September 2020, one month before Expo 2020 Dubai opens its doors on 20 October, 2020.
Besix will deliver construction and layout services for Expo 2020 Dubai’s France Pavilion.
Parts of the pavilion will be built using prefabricated and factor-made modules to boost construction efficiencies of both time and materials.
The contractor is also building its national pavilion for the World Expo, with the structure set to be a zero-waste building driven by ‘eco design’ to highlight the theme of ‘Smart and Green Belgium 2050’.
Jointly developed by Besix, Assar Architects, Vincent Callebaut Architectures, and scenographer” from Krafthaus, the project marks an extension of Besix’s Expo 2020 Dubai portfolio. The company, alongside Egypt’s Orascom Construction – one of its 50% owners – was awarded a contract in 2016 to co-develop site infrastructure for the expo.
