An expanded terminal at Bahrain International Airport will welcome its first passengers in Q1 next year.
Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications, HE Eng Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, made the announcement during a recent meeting of the national committee.
The development is being delivered by Dubai-listed Arabtec and Turkey’s TAV, and in June it was announced the terminal would be ready for handover in Q3 2019.
Sonmez Global is listed as the MEP and plumbing contractor for the $1.1billion project while Novatek Company and Berksan are jointly designated as electrical contractors.
German Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide has been providing operational readiness and airport transfer (Orat) consulting services for the upcoming terminal.
HE Mohammed said: “The transformation of a newly built terminal into a fully-functional airport is a multi-layered process that requires co-ordination and time to ensure the advanced systems and equipment of the new building work without any errors before its soft opening.”
