Emirates Airlines is set to resume flights between Dubai and Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport, a development that will give customers two destination options when travelling Emirates to Istanbul.
Set to resume from the 8 June 2018, the flight will operate five times a week, departing Dubai at 10:00 and arriving in Istanbul at 13:45. The return flight is scheduled to leave Istanbul at 15:35 and will arrive in Dubai at 21:00.
The schedule enables passengers flying Emirates to capitalise on connecting flights from Istanbul to popular destinations, such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Seoul, and Australia.
Hubert Frach, Emirates Divisional senior vice president, Commercial Operations, West, commented: “We’ve seen continued growth in travel demand to and from Istanbul over the past year and are therefore pleased to be able to offer passengers travelling with Emirates the choice of two destinations in the city.
“With flights to these two points in Istanbul, along with our extended partnership with flydubai, we’re able to offer customers more scheduled flight options and greater connectivity to Dubai and beyond.”
Designated EK119, the Emirates flight will be run on an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. In terms of cabin configuration, the airline has revealed that the flight will offer eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class.
Combined with Emirates’ existing service to Istanbul, the airline will offer a total of 16 flights and over 6500 seats per week.
Additionally, the addition of new flights is expected to contribute to the airline’s weekly cargo capacity to Istanbul, which is set to increase by 100 tonnes.
