The UAE government has confirmed workers in the public and private sector will receive a one-day holiday to mark the start of Islamic New Year.
Islamic New Year will fall on Muharram 1, 1441, which will be either Saturday, 31 August, or Sunday, 1 September.
Therefore all UAE workers are in line to receive a paid holiday to mark the occasion, meaning another extended weekend is on the horizon for residents.
Earlier this year, the UAE government announced plans to unify holidays for the public and private.
As part of this plan, residents can look forward to another public holiday after Sunday, 1 September, too.
Commemoration Day and UAE National Day are expected to prove workers with another extended weekend between November and December.
