Warmer colour tones in home design have become more frequent, as Dubai property developers compete to create more relaxed and comforting residential buildings, a Sobha Group executive said.

Sephen Atherton, corporate design director at Dubai-based real estate developer Sobha Group, said the use of warmer tones and natural materials are key trends to watch.

“The trends of 2019 we are seeing is the integration of wood, the use of art-inspired decorations, adding sustainable and boho-chic décor,” he told Commercial Interior Design.

“Embracing warmer tones this year is also a key trend, as part of the bid to create a more comforting feel at home.”

Sobha Group is building the Sobha Hartland megaproject that is valued at up to $4bn. Located in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City along the Dubai Water Canal, the project is an important part of the developer’s plan to increase its UAE market share to 5%.

And interior design, which Sobha manages in-house, has a big role to play in this.

“Dubai is home to several real estate developers and the market is set to see the completion of several projects in the upcoming few years,” Atherton added.

“With this variety of choice comes a need for developers to set themselves and their product apart. Quality and design become integral elements in the conception and execution of any project. A distinguished design that combines intricacy, uniqueness, sustainable material and quality finishing, and that ensures practicality and convenience, will contribute to the growth of Sobha.”

Sustainability in design plays an important role in how the company plans, designs and builds communities such as Sobha Hartland, Atherton said.

“We adapt low-energy usage, eco-friendly products and fittings throughout or communities, in order to create a safe and clean environment for future generations.”
