Abu Dhabi is building a three-storey health centre called The Bridge Wellness Hub, supporting the UAE’s 12-year strategy to make people happier.
Developer Al Barakah International Investment said the integrated lifestyle wellness hub will be one of seven destinations at waterfront project Al Qana and is due to open next year.
The Bridge will have what the developer called seven “service tracks”: move, pause, taste, seek, choose, expand and learn. These tracks will create an “ethereal” user journey across three floors and out onto a rooftop garden.
With the global wellness industry worth up to $4.2tn, Khalid Nahhas, founder of The Bridge, said the project will tap into a booming market.
“There’s a growing quest for wellness in our societies and this is becoming a worldwide phenomenon and a big shift towards better lives,” he said. “A cognisant and well-informed healthy community can lead to the powerful transformation of an entire city and empower its people to lead in vibrant and progressive self-fulfilling constructs.”
Fouad Mashal, CEO of Al Barakah International Investment, said the project will enhance the UAE’s wellness offering, promoting Abu Dhabi as a destination for entertainment.
“We joined forces to disrupt the market and introduce to Abu Dhabi a concept that aims to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of residents by offering a new lifestyle journey,” he said. “We learned from the UAE’s late founding father, Sheikh Zayed, that the happiness of our communities is central to the development of our nation.”
He added: “We are confident that The Bridge and the overall Al Qana project will play a key role in cementing Abu Dhabi’s position as one of the most liveable cities in the world and the ultimate destination for entertainment and wellbeing.”
