British firm Of. Studio has beat more than 100 companies to win Emaar's design competition to create an outdoor architectural feature for its waterfront development Dubai Creek Harbour.
The UK-based architecture and design practice has proposed building a “garden on the coast” that is both modern, contemporary and appropriate to the local UAE context.
The brief was to encourage architectural designers to “come up with innovative and unique concepts to develop another iconic piece of architecture” according to a press statement.
Emaar said it wanted to inspire a new generation through its ‘The Landmark’ design competition, which was launched in May 2019.
Fabrica Architects was the runner-up and its concept will be developed by Emaar in Egypt. The design submitted by Ragaie Architects, who came third, will be built in Mina Rashid.
Other firms in shortlisted in the design competition included Nurhayat Öz, Adnan Ihsan, TO Design, Tekuma Frenchman, A.Nouraldeen & L. Fraccalvieri, Melike Altinisik Architects and R. Sudheer & Ravichandar.
