Downtown Design's 2020 edition is on - and it's going to be interesting.

The popular industry get-together has been re-imagined in light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A new format for 2020 will bring the industry together across digital and physical platforms, allowing both the architecture and interior design community and brands to "gain inspiration and insight, network and navigate the new design landscape," say organisers.

This fresh hybrid format includes a conceptual exhibition 'The Shape of Things to Come', a digital fair, an online talks programme and the traditional physical brand experiences, all taking place at d3 during Dubai Design Week from 9th-14th November.

Other can't miss happenings are Dubai's first architecture show in partnership with RIBA Gulf Chapter and 'Please Sit Here' - a design collaboration between the American Hardwood Export Council and Emirati designers to create outdoor seating that addresses post-pandemic behavioural changes

The emirate's design week itself revealed a revised programme when it confirmed its launch dates in June.

This includes an open call for the Abwab 2020 pavilion, a new UAE-designer focused exhibition; a thematic focus for outdoor installations and public interventions and a hybrid schedule of talks that challenges pressing topics and creates dialogue.
