Sharjah Art Foundation and Jameel Arts Centre both announced new art programmes for 2020/2021

The UAE's arts season is in full swing.

Sharjah Art Foundation and Jameel Arts Centre have separately revealed their upcoming autumn programmes.

Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) announced two new major solo exhibitions by Tarek Atoui and Zarina Bhimji, the reopening of the Flying Saucer building and the return of the Sharjah Film Program.

Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai has announced its programming for autumn/winter 2020-2021.

The contemporary art institution on Al Jaddaf Waterfront, will present two major exhibitions, including a debut solo show by Iraqi-Kurdish artist Hiwa K, and return of youth programme The Assembly, and a new iteration of its research initiative Library Circles.

Important dates for your diary: On Saturday, September 26, Sharjah’s Flying Saucer building will reopen after a two-year renovation and installation Nowhere Less Now3 by Lindsay Seers and Keith Sargent will be on view as part of the reopening. Entry is free.

Meanwhile, at Jameel Arts Centre, curated by Shumon Basar, Douglas Coupland and Hans Ulrich Obrist, with graphic design UK studio by Daly & Lyon, Age of You considers how our perceptions of ourselves have changed, and what it means to be an individual today.

Opening on January 28, the exhibition brings together works of film, fashion, sculpture and installation by more than 70 contributors, presented through 13 chapters that chart the remaking of the inner self.
