Bett Middle East will be held at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi from April 25-26, 2017.

The second edition of the event will be hosted in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and Microsoft Education.

More than 1600 education policy makers, leaders, and experts from more than 35 countries will attend the two-day Leadership Summit and Expo, which will aim to address the latest latest trends, challenges and advancements in education and innovation, with a focus on the Middle East and Africa.

ADEC director general Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi commented: "In line with our nation's aspirations to expose our youth to some of the best teaching and learning trends in par with 21st century requirements, and as part of ADEC's mission to continue to elevate the quality of education offered in schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, global leaders, partners, stakeholders and prominent delegates, are encouraged to share some of the best practices and latest trends in education and technology, from both a national and international perspective.

"Bett Middle East is an extension of Bett London in that it attracts different people from all over the world, thus bringing about new ideas, strategy plans and technologies that are beneficial for all students, whether in Abu Dhabi, regionally or in the world. The initiative also offers networking opportunities, where some of the most effective trends in education and the way forward are brainstormed and discussed."

This year, the event will also host the first Bett Middle East Awards, which will be presented at a gala dinner. The awards will recognise inspirational solutions to the everyday challenges that students face. Award categories include:

  • Innovation:The innovation award recognizes a company or product that has pushed education forward in the Middle East and created a new learning or teaching method. Two entries will be awarded in this category focusing on K-12 and Higher Education.
  • Leadership:This award will recognize an institution, team or individual that is paving the way for education in the Middle East & Africa and has initiated or seen new approaches to education that act as a model for the future.
  • Game Changer:The Game Changer will be awarded to a ground-breaking project, initiative or program implementing the potential to drive large-scale improvement in student behaviours or outcomes at a local or regional level.
