RIT Dubai has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DGWorld to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics lab.
The MOU aims to support innovation and the futuristic plans of Dubai and focuses on cooperative education, which covers internship for RIT Students, transfer of knowledge and academic and executive development programmes, consultancy and research.
Dr Yousef Al Assaf, president of RIT Dubai, said, “RIT Dubai is honoured to sign this MOU with DGWORLD. The aim of this MOU is to open up various fields of collaboration in education, development, research and cooperative training in the fields of robotics, digitisation and AI. We look forward to building a long-lasting, cooperative relationship, and we believe that DGWORLD will be a strategic partner in supporting us in implementing plans that serve the futuristic vision of Dubai in being a leader in digitalisation and smart technology.”
Billal Al Hattab, CEO of DGWorld, stated, “DGWorld, in partnership with RIT Dubai, came up with the concept of building a robotics laboratory to provide knowledge on the know-how of AI and automation in the field of engineering for undergraduate and graduate academic programmes. We are honoured to sign this agreement. With the vison of a brighter future, we are always supporting the academic sector. DGWorld will support RIT University in Dubai by providing educational robotics systems and training cells in order to transfer the knowledge of our under development projects and technologies to RIT Smart Lab users. DGWorld is always aiming to match with Dubai government’s vision and to upscale the concept of the smart-Innovative cities."
It was recently annouced that RIT Dubai will receive a state-of-the-art new campus in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
The new campus will feature an innovation and entrepreneurship center, and it will be developed in two phases.
The first phase is set to open in 2019, while the second phase is expected to open in 2023.
