Four people have died and more than 50 people were rescued after a fire at a hotel in the Indian city of Lucknow. Local media reports that the fire that started at SSJ Hotel and later spread to Hotel Viraat International located near the Lucknow railway station.
There were around 60 people staying at the hotels when the fire broke out, the police said, and that most of the guests were evacuated safely. All the rooms have been checked thoroughly, fire department officials told NDTV.
A preliminary inquiry indicates that a short circuit may have caused the fire, and while the facade of the hotel has been badly damaged, the rooms were not affected.
