The Saudi Ministry of Civil Service has announced a four-day holiday to celebrate this year's Saudi National Day.

The holiday will start by the end of working hours on Thursday September 19, and work will be resumed on Tuesday September 24, sister title Arabian Business reported.

The National Day is always celebrated on September 23 to commemorate the renaming of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to Saudi Arabia by a royal decree from King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud in 1932.

The 2019 event will be the country's 89th. Saudi National Day is celebrated with folklore dances, songs and traditional festivals. The roads and buildings are decorated with Saudi flags and people wear green shirts.
