Housekeepers are often susceptible to injuries from repetitive actions such as making a bed, mopping floors or cleaning bathrooms and very few hotels pay attention to their staff’s health.

Here are five ways in which properties can ensure their housekeepers’ health is taken care of.

  • Regular training must be given to staff on bending/lifting techniques.
  • Daily briefings must include some physical activities like, breathing exercises, quick yoga poses or some physical exercises.
  • Health related tips must be given daily. Properties also need to ensure that proper meal breaks are followed.
  • Time management can achieve better health goals. Often housekeeping is a consuming task with long hours. Staff can actually benefit if better time management trainings are given and practiced so they can have better work-life balance.
  • Stress management courses are a must and staff must be motivated to remain stress free. Executive housekeepers must ensure stress free environment for the entire team.
