What is it like staying in a Dubai hotel during a pandemic?

In recent months, more and more hotel groups have worked to roll out hospital-grade hygiene measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. Each of them promise to elevate guest safety and hygiene while not compromising on the luxurious hotel stay many guests have become accustomed to.

Our sister title Time Out Dubai looks into what staying in Dubai hotels is really like during the coronavirus pandemic.

The first hotel for the Time Out team was Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort. Part of the Minor Hotels portfolio, the Palm Jumeirah property has introduced the group’s ‘Stay with Piece of Mind’ set of protocols.

These include a new and safety committee consisting of senior leadership and cleaning and sanitation experts from Ecolab and Diversey; new hygiene guidelines compliant with local government health regulations and the World Health Organisation; a Guest Guardian for internal audits; enhanced hygiene; sanitised airport limousine transfers; and check-in services with minimal contact and time in the lobby.

The second hotel meanwhile was Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria in DIFC. Hilton’s hygiene campaign is called Hilton CleanStay, enacted across its global portfolio. )

Measures include a CleanStay Room Seal on the door to give guests peace of mind; extra disinfection to high-touch point areas; paper amenities such as pens, papers and guest directories supplemented with digital alternatives; gyms given clearer guidelines and a contactless check-in using mobile phones. The hospitality giant has also joined forces with RB, the maker of Lysol and Dettol, to better train the workforce on cleaning and hygiene.
