A man has been arrested in Bahrain for sympathising with Qatar.

According to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Ahmed Al Hammadi, advocate general and head of the terror crimes prosecution, said that the Public Prosecution had received a report that an individual had posted comments on social media networks that criticized the decision taken by Bahrain and other Gulf countries regarding the State of Qatar.

He said that the Public Prosecution had launched a probe into the report, questioned the suspect and remanded him in custody pending further investigation.

The man’s post on social media, BNA reported,‘undermined the kingdom’s standing and respect’ and ‘undermined the real reasons on which the stance of Bahrain vis-à-vis the policies of the State of Qatar was based’.
