The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) will organise the technical programme at GOTECH 2019, a regional oil and gas technology showcase.

GOTECH is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai and minister of finance of the UAE and chairman of Dragon Oil. It will be hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 21-23 October 2019.

Fareed Alhashmi, COO of Dragon Oil, said that the involvement of the SPE has resulted in a 4-fold increase in the number of abstracts received from various corners of the globe crossing the 600 mark.

Only 150 abstracts have been selected and now qualify for presentation in the 22 technical sessions taking place during the 3-day event next month. These have been chosen for their pertinence to the industry as they address high priority issues and subjects. These include drilling technologies in well designs & completion, R&D in EOR, role of analytics and AI solutions in field development, drilling and production enhancement, new concepts in geoscience & reservoir characterization, stimulation & fracture technology, advances in formation evaluation, operational excellence & integrity management, HSSE, advances in surface facilities & pipelines, ASP/polymer flooding and low salinity technologies.

In addition, five Technical Panels featuring industry experts will cover:

1. Digital transformation in E&P

2. Paradigm shift in integrated well construction, technologies, commercial &digital

3. Value creation in advance geophysical applications

4. Production optimization using advanced tools

5. HSE&Q business outlook

“This association with SPE is a testament to the fact that GOTECH is gaining both regional and international recognition as a hub for presenting, discussing and reviewing some of the latest advances in technologies and R&D, which will serve and benefit the oil and gas industry across the board,” said AlHashmi.

Also for the first time, GOTECH 2019 will operate a Center of Excellence to encourage and present interesting and challenging topics that are in making and will benefit the industry.

“SPE is proud to be the technical conference organiser for GOTECH 2019. The event provides a valuable opportunity for greater engagement and collaboration between government entities, energy companies, and professional associations. Through a series of technical sessions and presentations, industry experts and leaders will share the latest developments and best practices in the oil and gas industry with a special focus on digital transformation and technology”, said Michelle Boyd, Director, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia Events.
