A star of the Fast and the Furious movie franchise has signed an agreement to bring his custom jeep assembly business to the UAE.

Souq Al Haraj, a property of Sharjah Asset Management, the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, signed an agreement with Voltron Motors, owned by actor Tyrese Gibson.

According to the agreement, the US-based company will open a branch in Souq Al Haraj in Sharjah, which will be their first branch outside the US.

The deal was signed by Gibson, founder of Voltron Motors, and Ahmed Juma Al Musharrekh, director of Souq Al Haraj, a statement said.

Gibson said that he was happy to visit the UAE and open Voltron’s first branch outside the US. “I have visited the UAE on many occasions. It offers attractive incentives and facilities to investors in all sectors. It is a vibrant and attractive environment. All the international automobile brands are present in this market,” he said.

“Our coming centre in Souq Al Haraj will be the gateway for the mother company to the Middle East Region. We see the UAE as one of the major regional hubs that attract investors and entrepreneurs from across the world,” he added.

He said Voltron Motors pays a special attention to safety and protection features and to reduce car accidents and minimise injuries and damage resulting from automobile collisions.

“In addition to safety measures, we focus on top performance and innovative design techniques in our customised, modified and upgraded cars,” he added.

Ahmed Juma Al Musharrekh, director of Souq Al Haraj, said: “Opening the first branch of Voltron Motors in Souq Al Haraj is a valuable addition that will help attract more investors and customers from inside the country and abroad as Souq Al Haraj is one of the region’s major marketplaces for car enthusiasts."
