The 1,200-km-long Etihad Rail project is being delivered in three key stages, with Stage 1 operations running since December 2015 and having transported more than 10 million tonnes of granulated sulphur as at April 2017 from sources in Shah and Habshan to the export point of Ruwais.

Operator of the UAE’s national railway network,Etihad RailDB, has become the first heavy rail operator in the MENA region to achieve the Business Continuity Management System ISO 22301-2012 certification.

Awarded byDNV GLBusiness Assurance Group, one of the world’s largest certification service providers, the operator is one of a few transport industry players in the world to be certified.

The certification guarantees a holistic and structured approach to prioritize, prepare and respond to disruption across an organization.

ISO 22301-2012 implementation aims to mitigate the impact of disruptions to a business and better prepares organizations to maintain business momentum in the case of unplanned events.

Saeed AlSuwaidi, acting CEO ofEtihad RailDB, said: “The ISO 22301-2012 certification is a culmination of our team’s hard work and effort and a result of the dedicated cooperation of our stakeholders, namelyADNOC,Etihad Rail, and the General Directorate ofAbu Dhabi Police,” said Saeed AlSuwaidi, A/CEO ofEtihad RailDB.

“Ensuring thatEtihad RailDB has the necessary tools and mechanisms in place to deal with any potential disruption to the business is a major goal for us.

“It is one we have taken many measures over the past few years to achieve, including participating in numerous emergency and crises exercises with our stakeholders.”
