Tesla has officially marked its presence with the opening of its first retail store and service centre on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road.
The 17,000 square foot store displays the all-electric Model S and Model X, and includes the Tesla design studio and the dual motor Model S rolling chassis.
Prices start from $74,800 (AED 275,000) for Model S and $93,600 (AED 344,000) for Model X.
Some of the first orders of cars Model S (range of up to 632 km) and Model X (up to 565 km of range) vehicles are believed to have been already delivered to Dubai customers through a temporary service centre.
Tesla has designed the electric
vehicle charging network, which includes Superchargers and Destination
chargers. In the UAE, there are two Supercharger sites with three more planned
by the end of the year, allowing owners to recharge their vehicles in minutes
rather than hours.
Tesla also has 32 Destination Charging locations now available, with at least 18 more operational in the next six months.
The RTA announced a deal in February this year to buy 200 Tesla cars as part of the Dubai Smart Autonomous Mobility Strategy aimed at transforming 25% of total journeys in Dubai into autonomous journeys by 2030.
The Model S sedans and Model X SUVs will be fitted with autonomous technology, something which Tesla co-founder CEO Elon Musk said would become commonplace in cars in the next decade.
This week, Musk unveiled images of Tesla Model 3 on Twitter
captioning it ‘First Production Model 3'.
