UAE telecom du has launched Start Stop Data Service, a new feature for users to control their data usage.

du has placed its customers in the forefront of their data decisions, as the new service costs 2 fils/minute, at a maximum speed of 1Mbps. With this service, users can browse the internet, usual social and messaging apps and stream videos.

To activate du's Start Stop Data Service, prepaid customers will need to dial *555# to start and stop their data sessions.

Fahad Al Hasawi, chief commercial officer, du, said: "For the first time, du is offering customers in the UAE data bundling on an on-demand basis. We have recognised that our consumers want more convenience and control when it comes to managing their data.

"We wanted to offer more transparency to our customers and give them more control over their data usage. Introducing a pay per minute scheme for data usage enables us to further address our customers' wants and needs, and to deliver on our promise of always adding life to life," he added.

To subscribe to du Start Stop Data Service, customers need to have enough More Time credit or Out of Credit balance. Once the service is activated, there is a minimum charge of 30 fils for the first 15 minutes of usage. After that, it will be 2 fils per minute for a maximum duration of four hours in one session.
