Abu Dhabi Hyperloop study due soon

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies and the Abu Dhabi government are due to release a feasibility study into using the high-speed transit system in Abu Dhabi "soon", according to the company's founder and chairman.

Speaking at GITEX Technology Week 2017, Bibop Gresta says that Abu Dhabi has completed the largest ever  feasibility study into hyperloop technology.

Gresta added that the company has deals with eight nations around the world for HyperloopTT, including land for two test tracks, one in France and one in India.

"We are the only company that has actually signed deals with governments, we have conducted feasibility studies all over the world, and we have three nations waiting to give us the go to build the first one," Gresta says.

"In Abu Dhabi, we are particularly proud because we conducted a feasibility study that is the biggest study on a hyperloop system. The government really challenged us, to demonstrate that hyperloop is feasible in all possible aspects... The government will do a big announcement on the results of the feasibility study.

Bebop says that the study covered many aspects of the project, although he did not reveal any details: "It is not only the technology, we have been asked to answer every possible question - alignments, financials, economic viability, sustainability, the impact on the Vision 2030 - and right now we are almost ready to publish. We are very excited to see this," adds Gresta.

HyperloopTT was founded based on Elon Musk's hyperloop proposal, which describe how a low-pressure tube transport system could carry passengers and freight at speeds up to 700mph.

HyperloopTT has been created on a crowdsourcing model, with engineers and research staff donating their time to the project in return for stock. Gresta says that so far over 920 experts in 40 countries have contributed over 70,000 hours of engineering expertise to the project.
