DarkMatter has teamed up with Safelayer Secure Communications to improve the effectiveness of digitally delivered services and to deploy secure digital identification (ID) infrastructure.
Safelayer is a provider of security software for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), multi-factor authentication, electronic and cloud signature, and data encryption, and is working with DarkMatter (the operator of the UAE National PKI) to accelerate the transformation towards secure and efficient digital societies.
The two companies are collaborating on an implementation of Mobile ID and cloud signature capabilities, enabling the firms to deploy large scale digital ID projects with high levels of security.
Scott Rea, DarkMatter’s senior vice-president of trust services, commented, “To truly deliver on the benefits accruing from digitisation, we have to ensure that we do not degrade the trust in digital transactions, ensuring security is considered holistically with no weak links in the chain of trust end-to-end. This infrastructure is a step in the right direction to realising this goal, and will provide an exceptional platform for the UAE and beyond to lead the globe in this area.”
Safelayer’s eID technologies protect and utilise the digital identity of corporate users, private citizens, or connected objects, which is becoming an area of heightened importance given the rise of smart nations and the explosion of intelligent, connected devices.
Jordi Buch Safelayer’s Vice-President Marketing and Sales said, “We found in DarkMatter world-class experts possessing extensive knowledge in security solutions. Teaming-up with them creates great value to governmental agencies as well as to corporate businesses involved in digital identity services, electronic signature or in the deployment of large scale Mobile ID projects.”
