A new electric scooter service is set for launch in Dubai.
KIWIride will launch this month, with a fleet of 600 e-scooters that users can access using a dedicated app.
The scooters have been designed to handle the hot climate of the UAE, and are intended to provide users with an affordable and environment friendly means of transport for short distance journeys.
The app, available on iOS or Android, allows users to locate a scooter and access it, unlock it and pay for the ride, then lock it again once they reach their destination. Scooters are intended to be easy to ride, and have up to 45km range on a single charge.
Rides are charged at AED 2.99 to unlock then AED 0.59 per minute.
The scooters, which will initially be deployed across the city of Dubai, are easily accessible and allow for users to ride even on narrow streets. Users don't need a driving licence to ride, and the scooters are available for riders over the age of 14 years.
