The year 2017 was an ‘unprecedented year of achievements’ for Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism industry, according to Haitham Mattar, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).

Mattar highlighted this fact at the at the 22nd United Nations World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) General Assembly luncheon, in Chengdu, China.

The emirate, which has been a sponsor of UNWTO’s initiative, the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, for the last nine months, is expecting further growth during the reminder of the year as it prepares to open the world’s longest zip line in December, Mattar said.

The UNWTO Luncheon was opened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai and attended by a number of tourism ministers and global travel industry leader.
