Dubai’s Road Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday opened a new overpass at the Marrakech Street intersection on Airport Street.

According to a Dubai Media Office statement, ‘The opening of the Rashidiya overpass at the intersection of the Airport Street will ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the direction of Deira as well as Al Khawaneej.’

“These improvements come as part of the RTA’s plans to accommodate the projected growth in the number of passengers using the Dubai International Airport, which is expected to shoot to 92mn passengers by 2020,” said H E Mattar Al Tayer, director general and chairman of the board of executive directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA.

Tayer also said that another overpass at the Casablanca intersection of the road would be operational by the middle of January, while another one at Marrakech Street, opposite Emirates Airline building and serving the traffic from Deira, would be opened by the end of February 2018. He also said that the Expo overpass near the Dubai Aviation Engineering Project, and the new Nad Al Hamar overpass on the way to Airport Street would be opened by the end of March 2018.
