Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced that it will be participating in the fourth edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES 2017).

The event, organised under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be held on 24 and 25 October, 2017 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

According to Empower, it will be using its presence at the event to highlight the advantages of district cooling, as well as the company’s services, policies, business models, plans, and green building solutions.

Ahmad bin Shafar, chief executive officer of Empower, said: "We’re very excited to participate at the upcoming WGES. At Empower, we’re trying to raise the bar on building district cooling efficiency, and our participation will not only help us to spur new ideas, but also shape the industry by presenting information on the benefits of district cooling technology.”

He added: “District cooling has gained a lot of momentum in the past few years. Our participation in the event will offer us an opportunity to encourage the public to adopt district cooling solutions and provide information on cutting-edge technology, projects, and solutions that help in energy conservation.

“Events like WGES not only help increase public awareness, but also set the agenda for public debate and positive action.”

Empower operates more than 1.25 million tonnes of refrigeration, providing district cooling services to Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, and Dubai Design District, among others.
