Kuwait to build water tanks in $143mn project

Kuwait's minister of water and electricity Bkheet Al-Rashidi has signed a contract worth KD 44 million ($143mn) to build five water tanks in Al-Mutlaa area, as part of his ministry's efforts to boost water supply.

The deal entails the construction of a quintet of underground water tanks, read a statement by the Kuwaiti ministry of electricity and water.

It put a 36-month timeframe on a project that is set to up water supply by 275 imperial gallons.

A recent construction boom in Kuwait has given way to soaring water consumption, making the project all the more significant, the statement added.
